CHANGE OF MINDSET NEEDED FROM HIGH-RANKING OFFICIALS TO WIN GALAMSEY FIGHT – GJA PRESIDENT

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association, ALBERT KWABENA DWUMFOUR, has emphasized that combating illegal mining, known as galamsey, requires a complete overhaul of mindset among Ghanaians.

Speaking on Asempa FM, as monitored by AkuapemHann, Dwumfour stressed that the change must begin with the country’s high-ranking officials who oversee Ghana’s affairs.

He argued that the fight against galamsey should not start at the grassroots level, stating, “If you cut the head of a snake, the rest becomes just a rope.” Literally, if leaders disengage from the menace, ordinary citizens will find it less appealing and will likely withdraw from such activities.
