British naval ships arrive with logistics

Accra, Sept. 1, GNA – Two British naval ships, RFA Sir Bedivere and RFA Fort Rosalie, docked on Wednesday at the Tema Harbour with supporting logistics and supplies for a bilateral training exercise.

The six-week exercise code-named “Ex-Western Rhumba 2004” is a joint military exercise aimed at practicing tactics, techniques and procedures required to operate in the jungle.

A statement from the British High Commission said the venue for the exercise would be around the Achiase Jungle Warfare School in the Eastern Region, where the troops would undertake advance training in helicopter drills and watermanship. There would also be live firing at the Bundase Range in Greater Accra.

It said the engineers supporting the exercise would undertake civil action programmes involving the construction of classrooms and the repair of infrastructure and training facilities within the exercise area.
