Tamale Technical University students staged a protest demanding improved welfare conditions and infrastructure development on campus.
The students accused the university management of neglecting student needs despite collecting a “developmental levy” as part of student fees.
The students famed over unacceptable and hazardous conditions, including open defecation and unclean washrooms.
Students said they feel the university management hasn’t provided any visible improvements despite collecting developmental levies.
The protest, led by the Students’ Representative Council, began peacefully but turned chaotic, resulting in minor injuries to three students.
The students are demanding; Clear accounting of student fees and developmental levies, urgent improvements to campus facilities, including hostels and washrooms whereas some students are calling for a forensic audit of the university’s finances
