School of Public Health to celebrate 10th Anniversary

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA – The School of Public Health College of Health Sciences of the University of Ghana, Legon, begins a yearlong celebration of its 10th anniversary next month.

The celebration would be under a general theme: “Achieving and Sustaining a Healthy Population.”

A statement issued in Accra said the official launch would be on September 9, 2004.

Other programmes include a scientific seminar and inauguration of the Alumni Association scheduled for January 2005, a public lecture in May 2005 and an international conference in September 2005. The statement said the school was established in September 1994 to meet the professional manpower needs of the Ministry of Health in addressing the health care challenges facing the country. It said the School of Public Health had set for itself to train public health practitioners who would be leaders and change agents for health development. The school offers a 12-month Master of Public Health Programme a Master of Philosophy and Ph. D programmes.
