Kumasi, Dec. 25 The Right Reverend S.K. Adofo, Primate of the Brotherhood Church, today advised Christians to demonstrate genuine love for their neighbours.
They should also learn to forgive them for their wrong doings. Primate Adofo was preaching at a Christmas service in Kumasi. He said Christians have a duty not only to promote peace and love but should also adopt positive strategies to translate these virtues into reality .
Primate Adofo urged them not to use the Yuletide for merry making and what he called ”hypocritical gifts giving,” but to strive to make a positive impact on society.
At the AME Zion church, Reverend Ben Mills, Pastor in-charge, called on Christians not to use the Christmas period as an avenue for making commercial gains.
He said Christians should rather reflect soberly on their moral, religious and social lives to enable them to correct their short falls.
Rev Mills noted that even though society has been engulfed with crime and the use of hard drugs by the youth, the damage can be repaired if the people ” walk in the ways of Christ” and believe in his message .
Reverend David Fianko Gyan, preaching at the Bethel Presbyterian Church at Atonsu in Kumasi, asked Christians to remember that the essence of Christmas is not merely eating and drinking.
He said the import of the celebration is the message of peace and love. Rev Fianko Gyan spoke against love for money, immorality, violence , disregard for the law and the wanton destruction of property which he said are some of the vices distracting mankind from God. At the Church of Pentecost at Asenua near Kumasi, Elder Kofi Sarfo, called on the congregation to reflect on their lives and to make amends where there have been shortfalls. He called on them to lead lives worthy of emulation and to promote peace, love and unity.
