Kumasi, Aug 29, GNA – Mr Benjamin Asonaba-Dapaah, a member of the Council of State, on Sunday called on Ghanaians to guide against utterances and provocative acts that could create confusion as the country gears up for general elections in December.
He said this was very crucial because election periods are noted for unexpected violence and anarchy that are difficult to handle and could lead to national upheaval.
Mr Asonaba-Dapaah made the call when he joined members of Presbyterian Churches in the Kumasi metropolis to worship. The worship formed part of his programme with churches in the metropolis to explain government policies and programmes and to pray for successful elections.
The Council of State member called on the congregation to stand against troublemakers who would like to create confusion and disrupt the relative peace and tranquillity people have been enjoying. ”Whatever happens, there will be social and economic hardships and it behoved you to support the government in all aspects to reduce the hardship through prayers and hard work.”
Mr Asonaba-Dapaah urged the congregation to vote for God-fearing candidates who will live up to expectation to help in solving problems facing Ghanaians.
He urged them to embrace the government’s National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them have access to quality health delivery. The churches led by their Reverend Ministers and catechists said prayers for the leaders of the country that God will continue to give them wisdom and love to enable them lead the country to prosperity.
