Fenerbahçe Sack José Mourinho

Fenerbahçe have parted ways with head coach José Mourinho with immediate effect, the Turkish club has confirmed.

The decision comes just weeks into the season, after the Istanbul giants failed to qualify for the Champions League group stages, a key objective set for Mourinho when he took charge.

Mourinho, widely known as “The Special One”, had joined Fenerbahçe with huge expectations following his high-profile managerial stints at Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Manchester United. But despite his pedigree, the club’s European campaign ended in disappointment.

In a statement, Fenerbahçe said: “The club has taken the decision to part ways with José Mourinho. We thank him for his work and wish him success in his future endeavours.”

The Portuguese manager’s departure leaves Fenerbahçe searching for yet another new direction as they aim to challenge both domestically and in Europe.

For Mourinho, 61, this marks another short-lived spell in management after his recent exit from Roma earlier this year. His next move remains uncertain, but given his track record, he is unlikely to be short of suitors.
