Painter fined for stealing Camera

Tema, Aug. 26, GNA – The Circuit Court ‘B’ in Tema sentenced Kobina Ansah, a painter, to a fine of 200,000 cedis for stealing a camera. Ansah will go to jail for 12 months in default. Atanga, who was also charged with dishonestly receiving, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted five million cedis bail to re-appear on September 6.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that, on August 13, this year, a hawker sold a camera to Ansah at 300,000 cedis at Baatsona TEXPO site in Tema. Insp Alice said the accused asked the hawker to follow him to his house for his money but on reaching the house Ansah denied having taken any camera from him.

She said when the police arrested Ansah; he led the police to Atanga’s house where the camera was retrieved.
