The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo, has commended participants of the Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Tactical Course 1-25 (BNTC 1-25) for their resilience, discipline and professionalism throughout the training.
He described the 16-weeks-course as a critical step in developing the tactical proficiency of young soldiers, in line with the vision of the Chief of the Army Staff, to wit: “Professionalism and Combat Readiness.” He noted that the decentralization of the course in 2019 was a strategic move to address the growing number of soldiers yet to undergo such training in the Ghana Army.
GOC emphasized the need for constant training to prepare troops to handle security challenges in northern Ghana. He urged all troops to be vigilant and professional in discharging their duties, especially in light of the ongoing conflict in Bawku.
Brigadier General Agbebo urged the participants to put the knowledge acquired into practice and maintain high levels of discipline in their units. He advised them to stay away from social vices such as betting and fraud. He also expressed appreciation to the instructors for their dedication and efforts in making the course a success.
The 16-week intensive training which started at the Northern Command covered conventional warfare, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, internal security operations. The participants were also taken through an orientation at the Jungle Warfare School in Achiase.
