The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reintroduced the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) in all public Basic Schools, a decision detailed in a press release.
According to the statement, the move was directed by the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama who approved the full “reinstatement of Parent Teachers Association in all pre- tertiary schools across the country.
Speaking in an interview with an educationist Mr. Eddy Frimpong, He said the government has done well to reintroduce the PTA because it played vital roles to enhance the progress of the country’s education. He also said PTA also assist schools development.
According to him, the high rate of indiscipline among students and youth nowadays in schools is as a result of the absence of PTA in schools. Hence the reintroduction will help in bringing back discipline among the youth and students.
Adding his voice as a former teacher, who is the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Honorable Dominic Gyasi in speech said the exclusion of teachers from Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to make it Parents Association (P.A) has caused more harm to the education of the country than good.
