The highly anticipated New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference will take place today, 19 July, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon
Approximately 5,675 delegates are expected to participate in the event, themed “Rebuilding Together with Our Values.”
The primary agenda for the conference will be the consideration of proposed amendments to the NPP’s constitution.
A 300-page report from the Constitutional Review Committee, along with a 64-page summary, was circulated to all regional and constituency branches to study ahead of the conference.
The party’s internal security team, in collaboration with national security agencies, on Friday, July 18, inspected the venue to ensure law and order.
On security arrangements, each of the 16 regions will be assigned a dedicated gate to streamline access and enhance screening.
Delegates and officials will only be granted access upon presentation of valid accreditation. Security personnel have been instructed to remove any unauthorised individuals found on the grounds.
Delegates are expected to remain within their designated zones to avoid disruptions, which will be handled firmly by security operatives.
Meanwhile, the party has warned that campaign activities for presidential hopefuls, including posters, banners, T-shirts, or any other materials, will not be tolerated.
Ahead of the conference, there were calls for the NPP, among other things, to expand its Special Electoral College.
If implemented, the proposed reform would expand the party’s delegate base to include members of the National Council, National Executive Committee, Regional and Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Officers, National Council of Elders, National Patrons, former National Directors, current and former Members of Parliament.
The rest are TESCON representatives from accredited tertiary institutions, all card-carrying ministers and deputy ministers, MMDCEs, 15 representatives from each external branch, founding members, and three delegates from each of the party’s special organs.
