Ghana Fire Service Save 16 People in Highway Car Crash at Adansi Kyeaboso

In the early hours of Thursday, July 17, 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) executed a swift and heroic rescue after a Toyota Hiace minibus carrying 16 passengers from Takoradi to Kumasi was involved in a serious accident near Adansi Kyeaboso.

The crash, which occurred around 4:16 AM, prompted an immediate emergency response. Just four minutes later, a rescue team from the Fomena Fire Station arrived on the scene and managed to rescue all 16 injured passengers from the damaged vehicle.

The victims were quickly transported to St. Bennito Hospital in Adansi Dompoase, where they are currently receiving treatment.

“Our officers acted with exceptional speed and professionalism, their quick thinking and coordinated effort likely saved lives”, GNFS.

The Toyota Hiace, registered GT 1910-14, was believed to be travelling at moderate speed when it reportedly lost control. The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.

The rescue has drawn widespread praise from local residents and commuters, who lauded the fire service team for their swift action and bravery under pressure.

The GNFS, in a public statement, commended its personnel for their dedication and called on all road users to exercise caution, especially during long-distance night travel.

The incident serves as a powerful reminder of the critical role Ghana’s first responders play in protecting lives, even when the rest of the world is still asleep.
