Teach tourism as a subject in basic schools – Association

New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 22, GNA – The New Edubiase branch of the Association of Catholic Teachers has suggested to the Ministry of Education to make tourism part of the basic school curriculum instead of it being a topic in social studies.

The association explained that making tourism a subject would give students the foundation for studying it at a higher level.

Mr William Boakye Baafi, Co-ordinator of the association, said this when he was briefing journalists at New Edubiase after members had visited some tourist’s attractions in the Western region at the weekend. He said the country needed experts to help develop tourism to enable the country to earn more revenue from the sector.

Mr Baafi asked school authorities to organise excursions to tourists sites to encourage student to take interest in the study of tourism. 22 Aug 04
