“You Reap What You Sow” – Sam George Reacts to Ablekuma North Violence, Demands Justice for Ayawaso Assault

Ghana’s Minister of Communication, Hon. Sam George, has broken his silence following violent clashes during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, calling out the Ghana Police Service and revisiting his long-standing grievance over the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election assault.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, the outspoken MP directed his message to Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), urging them to prioritise his complaint from 2019, a case he says has gathered dust for far too long.

“Dear IGP of the Ghana Police Service and DG of the CID, I am still waiting for the Police to act on my complaint from Ayawaso West Wuogon,” Sam George wrote. “It must be treated as a first come, first served basis. I have patiently waited since 2019 for justice to be served.”

His post came in the wake of public condemnation over the alleged assault on former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson and other NPP figures, during Friday’s chaotic rerun in Ablekuma North. But Sam George offered a blistering retort to what he sees as selective outrage.

“Let no one who justified the 2019 incident dare try to speak today. You sowed the wind and you have reaped the whirlwind. What was sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.”

His remarks have stirred sharp reactions on social media, with some praising his consistency and others accusing him of stoking division. Still, the minister insists his call is not about retaliation, but fairness.

“I have not started yet. This is just the beginning. We would all live in Ghana. One love,” he concluded

The Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election of January 31, 2019, remains one of Ghana’s most controversial electoral episodes, marred by violence and brutal assaults, including a televised attack on Sam George himself. Despite widespread public outcry and the setting up of a Commission of Inquiry, no prosecutions have followed.

With new political tensions erupting in Ablekuma North and echoes of 2019 resounding loudly, the Minister’s statement adds fresh urgency to calls for impartial and swift justice in Ghana’s electoral landscape.
