Ablekuma North rerun: Policeman Interdicted For Assaulting Journalist

The Ghana Police Service has interdicted an officer captured in a viral video assaulting an EIB Network journalist, Kwabena Banahene Agyekum, during the parliamentary election rerun in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 11, at the Church of Pentecost polling station.

The officer in question was seen physically assaulting the journalist, despite reportedly identifying himself and wearing a branded outfit.

In a statement, the police confirmed that he has been withdrawn from election duties.

In addition, the case has also been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation.

The Police Service has assured the public of a thorough investigation and pledged to provide further updates in due course.
