Bibiani (W/R), Aug. 20, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor has inaugurated a 300 million-cedi Mothers’ Hostel for the Government Hospital at Bibiani in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District in the Western Region.

The 48-bed hostel was initiated by Peecee (ED. correct) Enterprise Limited, a Ghanaian charitable organisation and financed by Abbott Diagnostics GMBH of Germany, which supplies medical equipment to health institutions.

The hostel would alleviate the accommodation problems faced by relatives of patients admitted at the Hospital.

The hostel, named after Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Minister of Health was to honour him for his tremendous contribution to health care delivery during his tenure as the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Medical Officer.

The inauguration formed part of President Kufuor’s five-day official visit to the Region, which ended on Friday. President Kufuor assured the people that the Government would make efforts to construct additional wards for children and women on admission.

Ogyeahoho Nana Yaw Gyebi II, Omanhene of Sefwi-Anwiaso Traditional Area, welcomed Government assurance to provide additional wards for the Hospital.

He commended the Government for improving socio-economic development and pledged the support of the chiefs and people. Mr Philip Carlis-Paittoo, Managing Director of Peecee Enterprise Limited said the construction of the hostel was the brainchild of Dr. Afriyie.
