Watchman charged with stealing

Tema, Aug. 20, GNA- A 24-year-old watchman at Sakumono Golf Club, who stole five boards of Odum that had been placed under his care, has been fined one million cedis by the Tema Circuit Court ‘A’. Johnson Dotse pleaded guilty and will go to jail for 18 months in default.

Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court that on July 18, 2004, at about 0001 hours, a security officer at Tema Development Corporation who was on duty at Sakumono spotted the accused carrying five Odum boards away.

The security man challenged the watchman of how he came by the boards, but he could not give any explanation. He therefore, arrested the accused and sent him to the Sakumono police with the boards. While in police custody, the accused escaped but re-arrested by the police, the prosecution said.
