“I Am So Thrilled She Can See Again!” – Foreign Minister Ablakwa Celebrates Suzy Pinamang’s Return After Life-Changing Surgery

There were emotional scenes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Suzy Pinamang, a young Ghanaian girl who recently underwent successful eye surgery in the United Kingdom, returned home to express gratitude and with her vision restored.

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, shared the heartwarming moment on his official Facebook page, expressing his joy at Suzy’s recovery and commending all those who made her life-changing journey possible.

“I am so thrilled she can finally see again,” he wrote. “I deeply admire Suzy’s fighting spirit and know she’s going to accomplish great things for herself and our country.”

Suzy, accompanied by her caregivers, made it a point to visit the Minister’s office immediately after landing in Accra to say a heartfelt thank you, a gesture Ablakwa described as a symbol of the “true Ghanaian spirit.”

The Foreign Minister extended his gratitude to philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama, the medical team in the UK, and H.E. Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, for their crucial roles in Suzy’s surgery. He also lauded the efforts of Ghana’s High Commission in the UK, the Ministry’s Protocol Department, and the caregivers who honoured their commitment to return with Suzy after the procedure.

“It’s a really inspiring partnership,” Ablakwa said, adding, “All glory belongs to God. For God and Country.”

The story has since gone viral, touching many across the country and beyond, as a shining example of what collaboration, compassion, and determination can achieve. Suzy’s journey, from struggling with vision to now seeing the world anew, is already being celebrated as one of the year’s most uplifting human-interest stories in Ghana.

She is expected to continue her recovery at home and hopes to use her second chance at sight to pursue her dreams and inspire others.
