GFA President Kurt Okraku Appointed Chair of CAF Interclubs Committee

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Interclubs Committee, a key body responsible for overseeing the continent’s top club competitions.

The appointment, places Okraku at the helm of one of the most influential committees within African football, tasked with shaping the future of prestigious tournaments such as the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

This marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian football, as Okraku becomes one of the few high-ranking West African officials to lead a core committee at CAF in recent years.

Okraku, who has served as GFA President since 2019, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him to contribute to the growth and competitiveness of club football across the continent.

Under his leadership, Ghanaian clubs have seen renewed focus on youth development and governance, although continental success has remained elusive in recent years. Stakeholders hope his new role will offer Ghanaian football a stronger voice at the highest level of the African game.

Okraku is expected to work closely with CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and other senior executives to implement reforms aimed at enhancing the competitiveness, commercial value, and global appeal of African club tournaments.

His appointment comes at a time when CAF is expanding its interclub calendar and looking to boost broadcasting partnerships, player welfare, and infrastructure development across member associations.
