Accra, Aug. 20, GNA – Government on Friday appealed to all health professionals to exercise restraint while the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) worked out modalities for the disbursement of the Additional Duty Hour Allowance for them. A statement in Accra signed by Mr Owusu Agyei, Chief Director at the Ministry, said the Government had taken note of the concerns of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) on the report of the technical committee set up by the MOH and the GHS.
The statement said the Government would “want to assure members of GRNA of its commitment to improving the welfare of Nurses in the country and this explains the various incentives package being put in place to enhance their welfare”.
It said the packages include a housing scheme to assist health professionals to own houses, Deprived Area Incentive Scheme, which would allow for allowances to professionals in areas considered as deprived, a car ownership scheme under which saloon cars are purchased for distribution to health professionals.
The statement said the leaders of the various professional associations had been contacted to negotiate on behalf of their associations including a Memorandum of Understanding between the GHS and MOH.
