Ghana Armed Forces Warn Public Against Fraudulent Recruitment Scams

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a stern warning to the public about ongoing recruitment scams involving fraudsters impersonating senior military officials. These scammers are reportedly deceiving unsuspecting individuals under the guise of offering recruitment assistance in exchange for money.

In a press release dated June 26, 2025, GAF categorically stated that no recruitment exercises for soldiers are currently underway. It clarified that the enlistment process for officer cadets, which began last year, is nearing its conclusion. Any individual or group claiming to facilitate recruitment into the Armed Forces for payment is engaging in criminal activity.

The statement, signed by Captain V. A. Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, urged members of the public who encounter such scammers to report immediately to the nearest police station. The Armed Forces emphasized its collaboration with law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute these imposters.

The GAF also highlighted that any official announcements regarding recruitment will be made through trusted platforms, including the Daily Graphic, the Ghanaian Times, and the Armed Forces’ official social media channels. The public has been strongly advised to rely solely on these verified sources for accurate information.

“The Armed Forces urges all citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate in efforts against fraud and criminality,” the statement read, adding that public support in this endeavor is highly appreciated.

This warning comes as part of the Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding the public from fraudulent activities and maintaining trust in its operations.
