NPP MP Patrick Boamah Laments Leadership Void, Calls for Stronger National Chairman

Okaikwei Central MP Patrick Yaw Boamah has expressed deep concerns over what he perceives as a leadership vacuum within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing the absence of a robust national chairman capable of steering the party through its challenges.

Speaking on ‘The Point of View’ on Channel One TV, Mr. Boamah underscored the importance of strong, principled leadership in the NPP’s history, lamenting the current lack of cohesion and discipline among the party’s ranks.

“We’ve had chairmen who could challenge even the flagbearer or president, ensuring decisions were in the party’s best interest. Today, that strength seems to be missing,” he said.

His remarks follow mounting tensions and public disagreements among senior NPP members in the aftermath of the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Boamah urged the party’s national executives to rise to the occasion, restore accountability, and foster unity ahead of the 2026 elections. While avoiding naming individuals, his critique reflects growing internal calls for introspection and a shift toward stronger leadership.

The NPP is gearing up for presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, as part of efforts to address internal friction and rally behind a unified candidate. Whether these moves will mend the cracks in the party remains to be seen.
