Kufuor Is Only Living On Goodwill Of Ghanaians

New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Assin North, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyepong has blamed the leadership of his party for being the cause of some MPs losing out in the selection of parliamentary candidates for the December elections.

According to Mr. Ohene Agyepong, the leadership of the party knew that developments in some of the constituencies clearly pointed to the fact that there were conspiracies against the sitting MPs.

Mr. Agyepong who is noted for his outspoken nature and objectivity stated on Peacefm today that complacency is gradually eating into the NPP.

He further stated that President Kufuor is only enjoying the goodwill Ghanaians have for him, but not that they love the NPP as a party. The NPP MP alleged that some of the sitting MPs had contacted the party hierarchy for help due to what has now been known as ?moneycracy? at various constituency primaries.

The party leadership, he stated turned deaf ears to them, which has eventually cost Parliament since those MPs who have lost the primaries in their various constituencies will not be in Parliament in 2005. The only option for them however, is to win as independent candidates against those running on the ticket of the NPP. They will however risk being sacked from the party if they go solo.

Mr. Ohene Agyepong has therefore called on the NPP leadership to advise those MPs who lost in the primaries against going solo, since Parliament would be difficult to control if President Kufuor win a second term without his government having majority representation in Parliament.
