Accra Hearts of Oak is actively working to resolve their $70,000 transfer issue with New Edubiase United, following a transfer ban imposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The ban stems from unpaid dues on the transfer of Salim Adams, including $50,000 as an outstanding balance and an additional $20,000 representing a 40% onward transfer fee. The GFA’s Players’ Status Committee had ordered the payment, with deadlines that were missed, leading to the enforcement of the ban.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Hearts’ Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, assured fans that discussions with New Edubiase are ongoing and close to a resolution.
“This is an issue that is being resolved,” Opare Addo stated. “When it is fully settled, New Edubiase will confirm it. Both parties are in constant touch to make it happen.”
Reports reveal that Hearts recently offered a $20,000 cheque, which Edubiase declined. Efforts to finalize payment arrangements are underway to lift the ban, which prevents the club from registering new players until the full amount is paid.
The GFA’s disciplinary guidelines stipulate further consequences for continued non-compliance, including possible points deduction or relegation.
Fans remain hopeful as both sides work towards a resolution, with Hearts aiming to restore normalcy and focus on their preparations for the upcoming season.
