Accra Hearts of Oak SC has been handed a stern ultimatum by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee, as the club risks a domestic and international transfer ban due to its failure to settle financial obligations to New Edubiase FC.
The dispute, involving an amount of $70,000, stems from a ruling by the GFA’s Players’ Status Committee (PSC). Hearts of Oak has been fined GHC 5,000 for non-compliance of May 31, 2025, deadline to pay the full amount owed to New Edubiase FC.
In a decision dated May 8, 2025, and signed by the Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Osei Kwadwo Adow, the GFA warned the club of automatic sanctions if deadlines are missed.
Key Points from the Decision
1. Hearts of Oak must pay GHC 5,000 to the GFA for failing to comply with the PSC ruling.
2. A final date of May 31, 2025, was set for the club to pay the $70,000 to New Edubiase FC.
3. A transfer ban, both domestic and international, will be imposed if the payment is not made by the deadline.
4. The club has been warned that all sanctions, including the transfer ban, will be enforced automatically should it fail to meet the conditions.
This development has sparked concern among Hearts of Oak fans, who fear the potential impact on the club’s preparations for the upcoming season.
The GFA emphasized its commitment to ensuring fairness and discipline across all levels of Ghanaian football. Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, faces mounting pressure to resolve the matter to avoid jeopardizing its competitive standing.
