MTN Mobile Money-Ghana has bestowed an accolade upon Emmanuel Ansu Gyeabour, a native of Dormaa Ahenkro, recognizing him as the one-millionth customer on the MTN Momo App. He was awarded a cash prize of Gh¢10,000 as a gesture to promote the download and utilization of the MTN Momo App for all mobile money transactions and associated services, thereby diminishing reliance on USSD codes amidst the burgeoning landscape of technology and digitalization.
During a gathering of MTN Momo’s national executives at the Dormaa Ahenkro Old Bus Terminal, Mr. Abdul Razark Ali Izaka, Chief Commercial and Operations Officer of MOMO Gh, remarked that the Mobile Money App represents a novel conduit introduced by MTN to streamline Momo transactions, ensuring they are free from errors and delays. He highlighted that the existing USSD code for accessing Mobile Money was initially developed during the nascent phase of Momo transactions, when keypad phones were prevalent. As technology has evolved with the advent of smartphones, MTN deemed it imperative to enhance their services, hence the introduction of the Momo App, which offers a more convenient alternative for conducting Momo transactions over the traditional USSD code.
Elucidating the rationale behind the reward for the one-millionth customer on the MTN Momo App, he underscored that the app’s introduction has not surpassed one month, yet amassing over a million subscribers signifies the robust patronage of MTN services by Ghanaians. This initiative aims to incentivize others to install the MTN Momo App on their devices, facilitating seamless mobile money services devoid of stress, with additional rewards awaiting customers on the Momo App.
In addressing the prevention of fraudulent activities in Mobile Money transactions, Mr. Abdul Razark Ali Izaka emphasized that the Momo App is both safe and secure, owing to its embedded two-factor authentication. This means that access to your account requires the entry of a PIN code in addition to an OTP sent by the service provider, a security system he described as highly reliable and effective in thwarting fraud and related issues in Mobile Money transactions. He mentioned that additional security features would soon be integrated to ensure optimal security, thereby enhancing the safety of Momo usage and safeguarding the privacy of all MTN Momo customers.
Emmanuel Ansu Gyeabour, the proud customer who received the Gh¢10,000 prize for being the one-millionth individual to download and install the MTN Momo App, implored the MOMO national executives to inaugurate an MTN Momo office in Dormaa Ahenkro. This initiative would facilitate addressing all mobile money-related issues locally, circumventing the need to travel to Sunyani and other locations. He conveyed his gratitude to the leadership of MTN Mobile Money for the acknowledgment and urged them to fortify their security apparatus to safeguard mobile money from fraudsters, thereby enhancing its convenience.
