Accra Hearts of Oak have set their sights on a major squad overhaul, unveiling a new Recruitment Committee ahead of the 2025/26 football season. The club, seeking to bounce back from a lackluster campaign, announced the move in a statement released on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The committee, made up of members from the board, management, and technical team, has already started evaluating the current squad’s performance and exploring potential signings. According to the statement, the recruitment strategy will be data-driven, aimed at addressing weak areas identified by the technical team. The club also hinted at redefining some players’ roles to align with its long-term goals, while those falling short of performance standards may be released.
This ambitious rebuild comes after a disappointing 2024/25 season where the Phobians finished fourth in the Ghana Premier League and exited the MTN FA Cup in the round of 16. Fans will hope for early signs of the team’s resurgence when Hearts face their arch-rivals, Asante Kotoko, in the President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 6.
