BECE candidate delivers baby during exams

One female candidate of the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Ashanti region has given birth while writing the second paper, ICT, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

The candidate (name withheld) got into labour at the Asenua Presbyterian JHS exams centre.

Reports suggest that the candidate had asked permission to use the washroom but the policewoman escorting her noticed the distress.

The candidate and her baby were subsequently taken to a private health facility for medical attention.

Ahead of the exams, the candidate according to school authorities had been out of school for weeks and had to be convinced to join her colleagues for the exams.
