President Mahama Swears in New Police Council Members

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in the newly constituted Governing Council of the Ghana Police Service, reaffirming his government’s commitment to ensuring professionalism and accountability within the police force.

The ceremony, held at the Jubilee House in Accra, brought together prominent government officials, including Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who will serve as the Chairperson of the Council.

The Council includes a distinguished lineup of individuals: Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior; Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine; IGP Cristian Tetteh-Yohuno; COP Rtd. Nathan Kofi Boakye; DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor; and legal luminaries Daniel Owusu Nyampong (Esq.), Angel Lolo (Esq.), Rose Bio Atinga, and Benson Atongo Baba.

In his address, President Mahama underscored the vital role of the Police Council in upholding the values of justice, fairness, and transparency in law enforcement. “The Ghana Police Council must not only guide the Police Service in maintaining law and order but also ensure it remains accountable to the people it serves,” he said.

The President expressed confidence in the expertise and dedication of the newly sworn-in members. He charged them to lead by example and implement policies that will enhance public trust in the Police Service.
