Barber charged with kidnapping

Tema, Aug. 16, GNA- A barber who allegedly kidnapped a 19-year-old hairdresser, in his room for over a week, has been granted 50 million cedis bail by the Tema circuit court ‘A’.

Foster Boakye pleaded not guilty and will reappear on August 30. Chief Police Inspector Mary Assunta told the court that on July 20, 2004, at about 0630 hours, the victim who is an hairdresser apprentice left for work at community one and failed to return.

She said the girl’s father went round in search of her until July 26, when he reported the matter to the police, and caused announcements to be made on radio.

On July 27, Chief Inspector Assunta said, the complainant’s father had information that the victim was in accused person’s room. When police were informed, they found the victim lying in bed in Boakye’s room, the prosecution said.
