Add value to your products, pineapple farmers advised

Ekumfi-Essuehyia, Aug 15, GNA- The Acting President of Ekumfi Traditional Council, Nana Baah X, has advised pineapple farmers in the area to initiate a processing company to add value to their produce. Nana Baah was addressing members of the pineapple producers to discuss matters affecting the association Essueshyia on Friday.

He expressed his appreciation to Mr Natheniel Azarco Welbeck, the Executive Chairman of N and C Group of Companies in Accra, which had teamed up with the farmers to operate a processing factory at Essueshyia.

Nana Baah described Mr Welbeck’s moves as a step on the right direction and called on other Ekumfi citizens in and outside the country to come and establish more cottage industries in the area.

He appealed to pineapple farmers in the area who have not registered with the company to do so and buy shares to strengthen the company.

The Chief Adviser of the company, Nana Obrenu IV who is also the chairman of the Ekumfiman Rural Bank Limited, asked parents in the Mfantsiman district to encourage their children who have completed Senior and Junior Secondary Schools to get involved in pineapple production.
