NDC Former Greater Accra Chairman, Joseph Ade Coker Dies

The former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, has died.

Mr Coker passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness. The exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed.

A prominent and often outspoken figure in Ghanaian politics, Ade Coker was a mainstay within the NDC for more than a decade. He was first elected as the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman in 2009 and served three consecutive terms before losing his re-election bid in 2022 to Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

Known for his fiery contributions on political platforms and media discussions, Coker was also deeply respected by the party’s grassroots base, where his influence was strongly felt.

Before entering full-time politics, he was active in sports administration and served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), leaving a mark on both political and sporting institutions in the country.

Tributes have begun to pour in from across the political divide, with many remembering him as a dedicated servant of the party and a strong advocate for democracy.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as the family and the party begin preparations to honour his legacy.
