Aliu Mahama’s family thanks President Akufo-Addo

Members of the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s family have expressed their gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for honouring their beloved kinsman.

Farouk Mahama, son of the late veep, who spoke on behalf of the family, stated, “The Alhaji Aliu Mahama family, from the bottom of our hearts, thank President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“President Akufo-Addo has proven that he is a good leader and my family will forever be grateful to him for his efforts to honour my dad, who duly played his part in moving our dear country, Ghana, forward.”

Mr Farouk Mahama was addressing a sizeable number of people at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi after a major clean-up exercise, held in memory of the late veep.

The exercise was intended to make Kumasi look clean and beautiful, ahead of the late Asantehemaa – Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II’s – funeral.

Significantly, the clean-up exercise formed part of a series of activities that have been lined up by the Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s five years’ anniversary celebration committee, chaired by Lawyer Gabby Otchere Darko.

Mr Farouk Mahama appealed passionately to Ghanaians to back his family in thanking President Akufo-Addo for remembering the good works of his father. “We are grateful to him,” he emphasised.

Some top people in society such as Gabby Otchere Darko, Edmund Kyei, John Boadu, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi and Michael Ataogye, participated in the clean-up exercise.

There is also going to be a grand football match among selected clubs from the northern and the southern sectors of the country at the Tamale Sports Stadium to honour the late veep, the paper gathered.
