Eleven students arrested for vandalism

Cape Coast, Aug 13, GNA – Eleven more students of the Cape Coast Technical Institute, have been arrested for their involvement in the destruction of school property on August 2, this year.

This brings to 20, the number of students arrested so far. Mr Mohammed Orleans Esson, the Principal of the Institute, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency said all those arrested have been granted police inquiry bail to enable them write their end of term examinations. He gave the names of the 11 students as Douglas Ekow Donkor, third year student, Henry Hayfron and Yaw Oduro, second year students.

The rest are Opoku Mensah, Benjamin Arthur Annan, Obed Sabastian Annan, Forson Mohammed, Bernard Quansah, Benjamin Gyasi, John Essel and Courage Kum all first year students.

On August 5, the police arrested Hypolite Nabome, Evans Aquatey, Frank Duku, Nii Okai Turkson and Nwinebaune Sabastian second year students.

The rest are Linda Quarshie Woode, Eunice Essuman, Cosmos Insia and Ishmael Ampomah first year students.

It would be recalled that students of the institute went on rampage and destroyed property worth millions of cedis.

They set fire to the school’s truck and vandalised other property. Mr Esson said the 11-member committee set-up to investigate the disturbances had not completed its work.
