Some angry supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Koforidua are mobilizing to stage a massive demonstration against the Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben Comfort Asante for making the President “unpopular”.
The New Juaben Municiapal Assembly has been embarking on decongestion exercise sacking hawkers from the streets of Koforidua and confiscating their goods to clear pavements and streets of the municipality.
But in a letter cited by Ultimate News and written by the angry NPP supporters, it states that “we the undersigned members of the NPP wish to inform you our demonstration against the MCE at Koforidua on 7/12/2017 (December 7, 2017)”.
The group led by a die-hard popular NPP activist T.K Aboagye is mobilizing support for the intended demonstration.
He told Ultimate News, the MCE has refused to heed to advise of the party having visited her office.
He contended that, the entrench position of the MCE will affect the fortunes of the government in 2020 election.
The New Juaben Municipal Assembly has directed the affected traders to move to the Agartha market which has no market sheds but very chocked.
Madam Comfort Asante has however justified the decongestion exercise.
According to her, the continues hawking on the street particularly walkway pavements obstructs pedestrians and thus creating mess.
