56 farmers train in good farming methods

Fiaso (B/A), Aug 11, GNA – Abrono Organic Farming Project and Care International, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture have trained 56 farmers at Tanoso, Forikrom and Fiaso in Techiman in good agricultural practices.

The training course was aimed at creating awareness about farmer-to-farmer agricultural extension service delivery system on low external input sustainable agriculture.

The 56 farmers were expected to impart the knowledge they had acquired on animal rearing and crop production, using organic manure to interested farmers in their communities.

Mr Kwarteng Amaning, an official of Abrono Organic Farming Project said, he was encouraged by the enthusiasm of the farmers and urged them to put what they had learnt into practice.

Mr Akare Damion of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture said the ministry would continue to collaborate with farmers so they would improve their farming practices.

Nana Kwarteng Ameyaw 1, chief of Fiaso who presided, expressed gratitude to the collaborating institutions and promised to release land to the farmers.
