Accra, Aug. 11, GNA – Mr Charles Biney, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who failed to get the approval of the National Executive of the Party to stand as a parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South, has declared his intention to stand as an independent candidate.
At a press conference in Accra to announce his intention, Mr Biney said the NPP’s mode of selecting and vetting of candidates was not consistent with the spirit of the 1992 Constitution
“The cardinal reason for disqualifying me from contesting on the NPP ticket is that my constituency is reserved for the Gas.”
Mr Biney said the approach was unconstitutional and called on human rights activists to condemn it.
“The Charles Biney, who is being rejected by the Party will surely be voted for by the electorate to bring about the needed change in the lives of the people,” he said.
He promised a dynamic leadership to chart a new era of prosperity, peace and happiness.
“We are determined to develop capital intensive projects to help improve the economy of our constituency.”
Mr Biney said he would tackle sanitation and health care and make quality education a right.
He said he would not accept the car loan given to Parliamentarians when he is elected, but use the amount to help solve the problems facing the Constituency.
