IHCC screens national service persons

International Health Care Centre (IHCC), A Haatso-based healthcare Centre in collaboration with its NGO, West Africa Aids Foundation (WAAF) on Thursday supported this year’s Ga East National Service orientation and elections at Abokobi in Accra.

The exercise also saw IHCC and WAAF offering free medical screening, including HIV test and talk to the National Service persons.
High profile resource persons were present to offer medical advice and provide answers to the health needs of the close to hundred youth that gathered at the Abokobi Presbyterian church premises.

And responding to what informed management of IHCC to reach out to the community, Dr Naa Ashiley said “First of all we are health-focused, our NGO, WAAF handles health education for the general public and a clinic- International Health Care Centre that ensure that we keep people in our community healthy, we are a community partner, so we decided to join and support the National Service persons orientation program.”

She added that “We want to go out to the community and educate them on disease prevention; we don’t sit at our offices and wait for them to come to us for medication. We considered the program as an opportunity to reach out to the community, we saw the National Service persons as young people now entering the working world.”

According to Dr Ashiley, the exercise was also to make (National Service) aware of what to look out for out there, saying, “ We have been around for 17 years but have been community focused. we will be there to support them every year hopefully. Our vision is a world where everyone has access to affordable and quality healthcare.”

The acting Director, Ga East Districts National Service Secretariat, Mrs Oduro commended the IHCC highly for their support.
