Security analyst commends Dagbon youth over Abudu, Andani impasse protest

The Executive Director of the African Centre for Security and Counter-Terrorism, Emmanuel Kutin has commended the youth of Dagbon for protesting against delay by authorities in the area in finding lasting solution to the raging chieftaincy feud there.

“For the youth of Dagbon both the Abudus and the Andanis to come together for this kind of demonstration is quiet unprecedented and they need to be commended”, he said.

“In every conflict we have causes that are structured in nature of proximity. …If you look at the Dagbon issue per say the causes are not structured in nature, they are proximity in nature”, the security analyst pointed out.

“To be very honest, they did a very remarkable thing. You realized their petition is to the Eminent Chiefs who have been mandated to mediate in this conflict headed by the King of the Asante Kingdom His Eminence Otumfuo Osei Tutu II”.

“I am so happy that they have chosen rule of law over violence”, Mr. Emmanuel Kutin revealed on Accra-based TV3 Evening News on Monday.

A group calling itself the Dagbon Malima Zu?? Monday hit the streets of Yendi in protest against the continuous delay by authorities in finding lasting solution to the raging chieftaincy feud in the area they say is subjecting residents to all forms of embarrassment

The group in a petition to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who is the Chairman of the Eminent Chiefs mediating the matter, demanded that an amicable settlement be reached on the matter.

“We wish to make a solemn appeal to Your Royal Highness, the Committee of Eminent Kings, the Kampakuya Naa, the Bolinlana, the Kuganaa, Dagbon elites, politicians and well-meaning sons and daughters of Dagbon, that we are tired of the age-long Abudu-Andani impasse that has crippled us for years. Our heroic ‘kings’, from Tohazei, through Naa Gbewa to Naa Yakubu Andani II will never forgive us if we do not revolt against the disunity and disharmony, that has sent us so backward as a people. We sincerely believe the royals (NABIHI) should not hold us ransom while the rest of Dagbon languish in abject poverty, joblessness, and underdevelopment”, they stated in the petition.
