Ankaful nurses threaten to boycott work

Nurses at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital have threatened to boycott duties at the facility if the embattled Medical Director for the hospital Dr. Eugene Dordoye is not kicked out by Wednesday 22 November.

The nurses have resolved to embark on a sit down strike at the facility to drum home their demands as they find his continuous stay in office of the medical doctor a hindrance to sound health delivery at the facility.

The fresh threat comes barely three days after a team from the Ministry of Health and the Mental Health Authority failed to broker peace between the embattled director and the aggrieved nurses.

An apology by the doctor to the nurses and an assurance not to either victimise them or disrespect them went unheeded as the nurses responded in the negative that they could still not work with him with the meeting ending inconclusive.

Speaking in an interview with Starr News’ Central Regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, the secretary to the aggrieved nurses Malcom Ali indicated that not only has the medical director not exhibited enough sincerity in his actions but the nurses fear he would victim them.

The promise of a good human relation from the director, he added isn’t enough as the hospital needs a new direction that the current director cannot provide.
