EPA organises on environment for women groups

Kumasi, Aug 5, GNA – Mr Daniel Benefour, a Programme Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), on Thursday expressed concern about the high rate of chemical pollution in some streams within the Kumasi Metropolis.

He mentioned Subin, Sisa, Wewe, Aboabo and Essen as the affected areas and warned that if the problem was not checked it could cause serious environmental hazards.

Mr Benefour was speaking at a day’s seminar on the environment organised by the EPA for 25 women selected from various women’s groups in Kumasi.

Mr Benefour stressed the need for the residents, especially farmers to ensure proper protection of the streams. In an open forum, the participants appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to ensure that the residents strictly obeyed its environmental byelaws.
