Yaw Barima re-elected to contest New Juaben south seat

Koforidua, Aug 5, GNA – The NPP Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Mr Yaw Barimah, was on Thursday re-elected as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the December elections. He polled 58 votes to beat his opponent, Ms Beatrice Bernice Boateng who received 35 votes.

Mr Barimah said he was pleased the election was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and appealed to his supporters and those of his opponent to forget about the rumpus that ensued between them during the campaign.

Mr Dan Botwe, the General Secretary of the Party, reminded the delegates that the fortunes of the NPP to maintain power after the elections hinged greatly on the support from the Eastern Region as one of its strongholds.

He said the NPP would not succumb to any intimidation by any member in its quest to win 170 seats in the elections “since no one person’s interest cannot supersede that of the party’s.”
