NDC goes to Cape Coast Sept. 11

– To launch national campaign

WITH THE Kumasi road show last Saturday over, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is now set to formally launch its bid for power for the elections. A Chronicle source has hinted that the party would mount a platform on September 11, 2004 at the Central regional capital, Cape Coast to formally launch the campaign.

The highlight of the proposed Cape Coast meet is the declaration of the party?s running mate by the flag bearer Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.

The Chronicle intelligence has gathered that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NDC has already given the former Vice President the criteria to choose his running mate.

These include competence, qualification, resourcefulness, regional and religious balance.

The flag bearer is now faced with the problem of choosing a credible running mate based on the requirements set out for him by the NEC.

According to the source the choice of the flag bearer should be everybody? man and hinted that the Moslem faction could not be down played here.

The NEC has not made any further recommendations regarding possible names but the Presidential aspirant would have to submit his proposals to the NEC and the Functional Executive Committee for approval before the September 11 declaration.

Party gurus The Chronicle talked to for clues were tight lipped over the issue.

They would rather keep quite until the declaration by the flag bearer at Cape Coast next month.
