Cocoa smuggling eliminated at Elubo Border Post

Elubo (W/R) Aug.3 GNA – Mr Kwesi Appiah, Jomoro District Officer of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), has said that, the vigilance and spirit of cooperation among the country’s security services at the Elubo Border Post, had helped to eliminate cocoa smuggling to neighbouring Cote d’ivoire. He was briefing Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, who met security personnel at the Post, as part of her three-day working visit to the District.

He said the security services were working hard to check cross border crimes such as armed robbery, drug peddling and money laundering. Mr Appiah said measures were in place to ensure that the security of the State was not threatened by the crisis in La Cote d’Ivoire. He expressed the need for the security wall at the Border Post to be fortified and a police station provided for the Elubo community.
