The Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bernard Allotey Jacobs says he has come to realization that criticizing former Prsident Kufuor during his time in office was wrong.

“I regret ever criticizing former president John Agyakum Kufuor in his time on office. He is the best …..,one of the best politicians I have ever met”. He said.

Mr Allotey expressed his regrets on Monday on Kumasi-based Hello Fm on the station’s morning show “Kokrokoo”.

According to him, he has developed great respect for the former president and will do anything to make sure he is respected.

“I have to respect for people who have been presidents of this country, so I have got respect for President J.A Kufuor. I swear; I will do everything to respect his image, his pedigree, as well as his style of life”. He confessed

Mr Allotey Jacobs, during the term of the former president Kufuor on many occasions seriously chastised his administration alleging some of his actions were corrupt.

In 2005, Mr Allotey Jacobs, the then Director of Operations of his party, in a statement, said they were surprised at a revelation by one Ms Gizelle Yajzi who owns a hotel close to the private residence of Mr J. A Kufuor.

In the statement, signed by Allotey Jacobs described the situation as means of corruption, scrambling for wealth, nepotism, avarice, arrogance and throwing dust into peoples’ eye. It also further stated it was disrespect to Ghanaians.

However, Allottey Jacobs in his interview on Monday described former president as one of the best politicians in the country.

Mr John Agyekum Kufuor was the President of the republic of Ghana, from the year 2000 to 2008 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
