Embark on a nationwide engagement to stop uproar of grassroots – Richard Ahiagbah

The Director of Communication for the Chicago Chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, is urging leadership of the governing NPP to embark on a nationwide engagement to repair the cracks between the party’s grassroots and the leadership.

According to Mr Ahiagbah, the current incidents of uproar by some NPP grassroots was a result of “the functional leadership disconnect” between the party’s leadership and the grassroots.

“The proposed nationwide engagement program is necessary not merely to manage the expectations of a frustrated grassroots but as a firm measure to promote and garner goodwill for the tireless labor of the Nana Addo administration to expand employment opportunities for all Ghanaians”, he said in a statement copied to Ghanaweb.

He further stated that “to be effective, we must approach grassroots engagement, not merely as an attempt to appease the frustrations of the grassroots, but rather a sustained strategy for the long-term success of the NPP”.

Mr Ashiagbah who is also a member of the NPP-USA Communication Team was of the strong conviction that giving a listening ear to the party’s grassroots would create a synergy towards the growth of the NPP.

“Achieving such a climate will among other things reinforce and accelerate the genuine efforts of this government to meet the high expectations billed to it by supporters and the country as a whole”, Mr Ashiagba emphasized.

The NPP General Secretary hopeful ,however condemned the incidents of vigilantism and misconducts that has tainted the NPP government since it assumed office and described such acts as “antithetical to the character and values of the New Patriotic Party”.
