Incumbent MP loses in primaries

Abuakwa (Ash), July 28, GNA- Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, a Businessman, was on Wednesday elected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Atwima-Nwabiagya in primaries held at Abuakwa, Ashanti. He polled 75 votes to beat Mr James Adusei-Sarkodie, the incumbent, who had 10 votes.

Two other contestants, Mr Yaw Frimpong, an Engineer had 22 votes while Dr Sarfo Adjei, a Scientist, polled 13 votes. Mr Owusu-Bio, who is the Manager of Hotel Georgia, Kumasi, commended the delegates for electing him and said he would not betray the trust they had reposed in him.

He called for cooperation and hard work from the Party’s activists to enable the NPP to sweep all the seats in the Region. Mr F.F. Antoh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, entreated the contestants, who lost the primaries, to take that in good faith and cooperate with the winner.

Mr Adusei-Sarkodie, together with the other defeated contestants, pledged their support for the new parliamentary candidate at all times.
