I feel sorry for NDC – Sammy Awuku

National Youth Organizer for the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku has expressed complete sympathy for the opposition National Democratic Congress following leakage of some pages of its ‘sacred’ document; the Kwesi Botchwey Report.

According to him, attempts by members of the party to classify the report as fake is as a result of the ‘daze’ its leakage has caused them. He argues that efforts to deny the contents of the document will be detrimental to their comeback in subsequent elections.

“I feel sorry the report has leaked. They are dazed by the leakage. The self-denial will worsen their plight because they cannot implement the recommendation of the report”.

Mr. Awuku maintained that the NDC is “swallowing their own bitter pill” after deciding to adopt Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy’s ‘Chasing the elephant into the bush’ book as grounds for their criticisms of the NPP after their loss in the 2008 elections though there was an official report constituted by the Hayman Committee.

“Even though, the party constituted the Hayman committee to unearth what caused the defeat of the party and a report was submitted, the NDC relied on a book written by an individual against a document that specifically focused on the party”.

“They went to town with Dr Kobina Arthur Kennedy’s chasing the elephant into the bush and even quoted portions on this platform to back their accusations. Now it is their time to also swallow the bitter pill and they are complaining it is not true. I was on Legon campus making arrangements for buses to transport people to the regions to vote and while I was looking at luxury buses they were bringing rickety Benz buses. The people they were organizing the buses for abandoned theirs and joined ours. Do you need the Kwesi Botchwey report to state that this was a challenge”, he asked on Newsfile.
