Otiko visits family of defiled four-year-old girl; promises justice

Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba has urged families of the defiled 4-year -old girl to be calm as the Ministry is poised for ensuring justice.

The little girl who’s just four years old was reported to have been defiled by a teenager who is 14 years about two weeks ago. The boy comes from next village called Assin Adadientem; where he carried out his act.

The Minister, who visited the victim at Assin Sunday empathized with the family admonished them to be calm in dealing with the issue since the two people involved are minors.

According to her, issues of defilement and rape are just too many and cannot be accommodated in any sphere of life and called on the community to assist the investigative authorities in getting the truth.

She presented an amount of GHC 1500 and some toiletries to the girl’s family.

Meanwhile, father of the victim, Kwabena Nyarko explained that his daughter complained of pain in her private part after the parents had left her in the care of some neighbours for farm activities.

And in the evening when she was being bathed for, she mentioned the name of the 14-year –old as the culprit. This was later confirmed by the Assin Fosu Government hospital.

The minister stated that, her ministry is about giving some psychological treatment to the victim as well push for the amendment of the Children’s Act 560, to prohibit parents and guardians from leaving their wards in the care of neighbours.
