40 workers update their knowledge on new laws

Takoradi, July 26, GNA – A two-day workshop, aimed at creating awareness on the new Financial Administration, Procurement and Internal Audit Agency laws among officers of the various Government departments, institutions and agencies in the Western Region opened at Takoradi on Monday.

Heads and accountants of about 40 institutions would benefit from the workshop, which is being organised by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

Mr Raymond Govina, Director of the Comptroller and Accountant General’s Department, said the workshops would provide the participants with a better understanding of the three Acts and their roles in the operation of the laws to improve financial management in the public sector. Participants among other things would discuss procurement planning guidelines, price quotation, competitive bidding and framework for implementation.

Mr Govina said after the workshop, participants should be able to prepare a procurement plan and acknowledge their responsibility as key players in the implementation of the new laws.
